I have 3 different steel planters on my patio and this one is my least favorite. All planters were purchased on Amazon. This one has 2 pieces of steel welded to the bottom, in a sloppy style. The planter has 2 sides that are not bent around to make a nice border on all sides, only 2 sides of the planter has a boarder. Check around Amazon and look at the pics before buying. This one also has scratches and what looks like chemical spills on the sides so it is not a clean steel planter either - def more rustic than most. #notafanVery well made using thick weathering steel. Photos taken two days after delivery. I sped up the rusting process with a mix of vinegar, peroxide, and salt. I expect them to last a lifetime.I ordered 3 of them, arrived late but with no issues. Trust me, they will not get damage during delivery, these things are sturdy pure steel metal, indestructible!. Heavy and beautiful. I order them with drain holes (very important). We planted the large rectangular ones with bamboo and the small square ones (20x20x20) with wisteria and clematis. We were told by the bamboo gardeners to insulate the planters because steel gets real cold in the winter and real hot in the summer so we did that with insulated bubble wrap looking material from Home Depot. They turned out fabulous. The steel does rust and will turn your stone red but with a product called Singerman Laboratories Concrete Rust Remover, the rust stain comes right out. These planters are pricey but handcrafted, solid, and high quality so totally worth it. You will not regret your purchase.I wanted some heavier planters to holdup a 20ft sun shade in the backyard. I didn’t need the rusted look so they are primed and painted. They are nice and heavy. Arrived quickly. I bought 2 and they were double stacked on a pallet.Only downside is they “just showed up” without a delivery confirmation.... but I blame ups on that.Stunning & Very sturdy but two words of warning:The planters arrive looking like black cubes but quickly oxidized to rust. If you do not want the color to change you have to treat the exterior first before you plant it up and place it outside. Also, they do get hot in the sun so plan on watering more than usual. This was just what was needed in a landscaping project. Most beautiful planter box we've owned! Sturdy - steel is always changing - gorgeous outside our window:))
