Be careful the bags do not work as planters! I was a full to spend an hour repotting my plants to the bags only to find out the bags do not hold water at all! Only works as pot holders.These pockets are a perfect size for herbs, leafy vegetables, or any small plant. The pockets getting smaller as you go deeper, and the tilt of the fabric, means you'll want to fill them with soil atleast an inch short of the top because watering will pull the soil level and more towards the front lip of the pocket.Be advised, if you plan to line your pocket (I took the suggestion from others), a gallon-sized freezer bag is a good fit if you trim off the zipper just above the label. Make sure you cut the corners to still allow plenty of drainage. The pocket is made of the same unwoven fabric like "smart" pots and, while air pruning is healthy for roots, they dry out very quickly requiring virtually daily watering. Baggie liners will stop that at the expense of your plants getting more root-bound. I'm not worried, though, since you only keep them for a season. I would worry more if I used these for perennials or a houseplant.Word of warning, this product comes with very thin, short cable ties. I suggest stopping by your hardware and buying a supply of standard cable ties, they only cost a few bucks. I linked two 14" cable ties to get all the way around my deck rail.Overall, these plant pockets are a great way to optimize your deck rails for some vertical gardening!I bought 2 of these specifically for my strawberry plants and I only put one plant per section and have already lost 4 plants. I think the black material makes the pockets dry out way too fast, it pools the water, then dumps it out the side, then it drains really fast out the bottom. The plants on the last bottom pocket are the only ones doing well. Also there's something within it inhibiting the strawberries from growing big. I have plants in the ground and the course the ones in the ground are doing 5 times better. Very disappointing. Might try to grow something else in them next year.I like that I can grow up in my corner veggie garden. I planted a variety of lettuce in my pocketsWith some heavy duty clips for vinyl siding made a little herb garden on the dead space on my porch. Like it so much I ordered another one. The back is waterproof. I’m going to try and winter them inside with grow lights. Will update with how it goes.Not great for anything that wants to hold water. I tried flowers last summer and herbs this summer and wasted so much water trying to keep them wet. It just pours right through the fabric. The pockets hold surprisingly little soil. I feel like these would really only work well for succulents with a shallow root. I'm wondering if I got a different product than some of these reviews because I'm normally pretty handy with plants, but everything I grew in these died, and the only difference was the planter.Also worth noting that the grommets for holding the planter rusted quite quickly.Love!! Good quality. Pockets are even bigger than I thought they would be. Super excited for the flowers to be all full and spilling over. Seems like they will hold up well in the Pacific NW weather.Not as water resistant as I expected. When watering there was a bit of soak through and splashback as water seeped through the back panels. Had this for about a month and the metal washers are already rusting.
